Our Personal Message to You About Sexual Abuse Healing and Prevention

Project Tell

Project Tell is breaking the silence about sexual abuse to create survivorhood, not victimization.
As a survivor we are not here to single out judgment, but to unite to say,

“It has happened to me or someone I love.”

There are many simple ways to speak out to promote healing and prevention from sexual abuse.
We encourage all who read this page to personally commit to breaking the silence.

Below are a few ideas to help you break the silence.

·         Speak out:  Don’t permit new victims to think that they are alone

·         Support Your Community:  Everyone community has a variety of program designated to support victims of sexually violent crimes.    You do not need to become an advocate or counselor to assist them.  Simple donations of clothing, food, and toiletries are helpful or you could volunteer to assist for a fundraiser.  It is up to you how many hours you can contribute during a week, month or year.

·         Know all of the warning signs:  Not everyone will react or feel the same way when they are sexually abused.  Knowing the signs will help you to be better prepared to recognize when some you love needs help to find their way to survivorhood.  You will find the signs and symptoms listed in Feeling Safe by Autumn Grace and Mom as well as at the links found on the Red Star Page of this website

·         Establish how to teach your own family ways to keep safe from sexual abuse.

·         Regularly remind government officials of the need for victims support programs by writing or calling their office.  Break the silence by sharing that you are a sexual abuse survivor.

·         Encourage local, regional and national radio and television media personalities to dedicate parts of their programs to healing and prevention from sexual abuse.
